Now rated by Gordon Ramsay as the 'Bentley of cake makers', Mich Turner has also provided Madonna, Sir Paul McCartney, Pierce Cheap Bridesmaid Dresses   Brosnan and Ashley Cole with the best cakes money can buy, at up to £6,000 a time.

We caught up with Mich to find out more So how did you get started in the cake making business?Mich: Gosh! Well they say overnight success takes twenty years and that's pretty much how long ago I started!

I was still at school, studying to go off to University to be a Food Scientist when my Home Economics lecturer asked me if I would decorate her wedding cake for her. I'd never done anything as specialised as that before, so I enrolled on a four day course to learn the basics, decorated her cake and haven't looked back since!

I started The Little Venice Cake Company and was supplying wedding and special occasion cakes for lots of the Five Star London Hotels, working alongside event organisers and party planners, where my reputation very quickly grew as someone who offered the attention to detail and service that their clients were looking for.

That was in back in 1999, and within a year I had done Madonna's wedding cake, quickly followed by both Pierce Brosnan's and Paul McCartney's wedding cakes. More recently, we've had the privilege of making David Beckham's 30th Birthday Cake and GMTV's Kate Garraway's wedding cake.

Q: So just how many cakes does The Little Venice Cake Company make each week?Mich: It can really vary depending Buy  on the time of year. Autumn is always very busy for us because we look after the entire Christmas cake production for both the Harrods and Fortnum and Masons Christmas Hampers - which is in excess of 60,000 cakes!

With wedding cakes, we can be dealing with anything up to thirty weddings on a weekly basis.

I have a team of eight and between us we manage to look after all our customers.

Q: So, especially with a wedding cake, your clients will come to you looking for something particularly special Absolutely! Part of our service is that we hold a bespoke consultation with each and every client at our studio in London where they can sample the cakes and work with one of designers to have a bespoke design created for them.

As the Company has grown, people are becoming more and more aware of our style. We have a very distinctive, innovative, clean, classical contemporary style and we often have clients telephoning us to ask for our '1950's Chic' or our 'Faberge' designs. Most recently we did the wedding cake for Ashley Cole and Cheryl Tweedy and quite literally within half an hour of it being seen in the magazines we had three people contacting us to order that very same cake.

Q: Your cakes are quite something of a statement, aren they?Mich: We are lucky enough to be featured very heavily in the bridal magazines and titles as the leading innovative company for special occasion wedding cakes.

Our cakes have become something of a couture statement. Where a bride may have her Phillipa Lepley dress, her Jimmy Wedding Dresses Bridesmaid Dresses   Choo shoes and specialist flowers, so it would be that she would also have a Little Venice Cake Company wedding cake.

We've been very fortunate that our cakes have become quite a fashion statement, thanks to the many celebrities we've dealt with and the subsequent magazine coverage they have received.
